Event information
Together with its chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle, the Berliner Philharmoniker say farewell to 2016 with a glamorous New Year's Eve gala concert. The young star pianist Daniil Trifonov is the soloist in Rachmaninov’s famous Piano Concerto No. 3, considered by many to be one of the most difficult. Sir Simon Rattle will then introduce the audience to the world of British humour with William Walton’s Façade. Finally, the evening will draw to a lively close with a selection of Antonín Dvořák’s virtuoso Slavonic Dances. The New Year’s Eve concert opens with the sparkling overture to Dmitri Kabalevsky’s opera Colas Breugnon.
The cinema performance at Finnkino start at 6pm on Saturday 31 December. In addition to the concert broadcast, there are also exclusive interviews and in-depth introductions to the works with insights into the work of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
